| GRANITEXT |
| |
|
| APPLICATION GUIDE |
|
| |
| GRANITEXT filler,
resin, catalyst and accelerator are the only ingredients that
need to be mixed. This wet mass is poured into a mold and a
chemical reaction, aided by the catalyst, converts the mass
to a hard and dense solid, which closely matches the natural
stone. |
| |
| RESIN REQUIREMENT
- GEL COAT |
|
| |
| A standard marble resin can be used with a fast
gel time for better results. The resin to filler ratio ranges
from 25 - 35% depending on the climate, type of resin used and
its viscosity. The mix should be thoroughly wet out. Resin floating
to the surface of the mixture after the mixer has been shut
off, is an indication of too much resin. In case a particle
separation in the final product is occurring or the matrix does
not adhere to the vertical surfaces of the mold, use a thickening
agent, i.e. Aerosil or a higher viscosity resin. Furthermore,
a fast gel time (less than 15 minutes) will give the mix less
time to settle out. A clear gel coat may be used in the mold,
prior to casting, to achieve a high polished shine by buffing
the product. It may be also used on final products with a regular
exposure to water or outdoor conditions. |
| |
| POURING |
|
| |
| The mix is poured over the mold as evenly as possible
and the cavities are completely filled before vibrating so that
the required vibration time for leveling be a minimum of 1 -
2 minutes. For vertical mold surfaces a thickening agent may
be necessary to increase the adhesion characteristics of the
mixture. If excessive resin is visible on the back surface after
vibrating, reduce the amount of resin in the matrix or add a
thickening agent. |

| FINISHING - REPAIRING
- MAINTAINING |
|
| |
GRANITEXT is a material,
harder than cultured marble. If tooling is necessary, silicon
carbide grinding discs, drill bits and saw blades are recommended.
For minor repair works a clear gel coat usually is sufficient.
For repairing a major chip, fill the hole with a resin - GRANITEXT
mix. Once fully cured, coat with gel coat and allow again to
fully curing before sanding and polishing.
The surface of the final product should be cleaned with a liquid
soap, followed by a treatment of paste wax to minimize scratching
and avoid the appearance of hard water residue in case there
is a permanent exposure to water (i.e. kitchen sinks, bath tubs).
This procedure should be followed every six months |
