| APPLICATION GUIDE |
|
| |
| SPRAY-UP APPLICATIONS |
| A mixture of about 30 % sprayable Lithopol 700
chips and 70 % clear gel coat or other resin is used as a spray
granite material. For best covering results the Lithopol chips
ratio can be increased up to 40% depending on the viscosity
of the resin. |
| |
| |
- Spray a layer of UV stabilized clear gel-coat onto
the mold.
- As soon as the first layer starts curing, spray
the mix of gel-coat with Lithopol granules until the
complete coverage of the surface of the mold. Use
a spray gun with a nozzle size 5 mm minimum at a distance
from the mold about 25-35 cm under air pressure of
4 bar aprox. During the spraying procedure keep the
mix of the granules with the gel-coat homogenized
in order to avoid settling of the granules in the
matrix.
- As soon as the second layer starts curing, calcium
carbonate or Calcilight is casted as a back pour material
or fiber glass with resin is applied. If it is necessary,
either a matching pigment is used in the backing material
or a layer of pigmented gel coat is sprayed as a solid
backing color behind the Lithopol granules before
step 3.

|
- POST- MOLD APPLICATIONS
LITHOPOL may be sprayed also onto wood , plastic, acrylic
and other non mold surfaces. If the surface is smooth, it
should be prepared by a sand paper prior to spraying. Usually,
a surface coating of a compatible color is applied first
and as soon as this back coat is cured, the mix of LITHOPOL
granules with resin can be sprayed. The resin or gel coat
used, should have good adhesion characteristics to the surface
being sprayed.
For sanding and finishing of the part, conventional wood
working tools are used. To facilitate the sanding process
a clear gel coat or other clear resin can be applied as
a final layer.

| CASTING APPLICATIONS |
| Lithopol RM filler is used for solid surface casting
applications, thoroughly wet out with a solid surface ISO NPG
resin (600-800 cp). The filler to resin ratio is approximately
70 : 30. The LITHOPOL granules (grades 6000 and 8000) of the
coarser size can be also added (5-15% of the filler weight)
to enhance the granite appearance of the finished product. The
procedure is a non gel-coat one and the final products can be
machined like a wood. The surface can be easily repaired by
sanding and polishing. A vacuum mixer is not necessary unless
it is required by the technical characteristics of the final
product. |
